Ballard football team has 12 players named all-3A District 2
The Ballard football team had 12 players named to the all-Class 3A District 2 teams recently by the district coaches.
The Bomber list was headlined by sophomore senior defensive end Nick Wacha and sophomore running back Eli Rouse.
Wacha was named Defensive Player of the Year in 3A District 2. He recorded 59.5 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks and a fumble returned for a touchdown.
Rouse came up big the second half of the seasons. He ran for 869 yards and 12 scores.
The other Bomber first-team picks are running back Gabe Christensen and defensive backs Jacob Ihle and Colby Calvert.
Christensen ran for 772 yards and six touchdowns. Ihle made 27.5 tackles and Calvert had 10.5 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.
Receiver Jayden Cattell, offensive lineman Caleb Larsen and linebacker Jayden Swain made the second team. Christensen had 368 yards and four touchcowns rushing and Swain made 70.5 tackles and steven stops behind the line.
Offensive lineman Parker Becker, linebacker Blake Fleischmann, defensive back Jakson Fleischmann, Krogh and Chance Lande are the Bombers named honoable mention. Blake Fleischmann made 17 tackles and Krogh chipped in two sacks in limited time
Humboldt quarterback Caden Matson was named Offensive MVP in the district after throwing for 689 yards and nine touchdowns. Ballard's Nick Wacha was chosen as the Defensive POY in the district after making 59.5 tackles, 13 stops behind the line and three sacks.
Humboldt's Ben Kuehnast was named lineman MVP, Matson offensive MVP and Gilbert kicker Evan Weary special teams MVP.
Humboldt's Derrick Elman was named the district Coach of the Year after leading the Wildats to the district championship.
