C-M wrestlers go 0-4 at HDC Duals Saturday

HAMPTON – The Collins-Maxwell wrestling team went 0-4 at the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Duals Saturday. 

The Spartans fell to Belmond-Klemme (36-24), Hampton-Dumont-CAL (66-6), Lake Mills (75-3) and the Southeast Polk JV team (66-12) in falling to 2-12 on the season. 

Collins-Maxwell received two pins and two forfeit wins against Belmond-Klemme.  

Trevor Sliger pinned Belmond-Klemme's Emma Erwin-Miller in one minute, 46 seconds at 138 pounds and Brody Sampson took care of Austin Willms in 2:36 at 195. Jacob Pierick (120) and Gracie Leslie (126) were the two Collins-Maxwell wrestlers to receive a forfeit. 

The Spartans had one pin against Hampton-Dumont-CAL. Sampson stuck the Bulldogs’ Tate Schmitt in 1:39. 

Pierick picked up Collins-Maxwell's only win against Lake Mills by winning a 4-1 decision over Garrett Ham. Sampson and Pierick each scored a fall against the Southeast Polk JV, with Sampson downing the Rams’ Thaden Abbas in 3:53 at 182 and Pierick defeating James McWilliams in 5:33. 

MAXWELL – The Collins-Maxwell wrestling team came up short in duals against Baxter, Belle Plaine and English Valleys/Tri-County in a home triangular dual Jan. 7. 

The Spartans suffered a 36-31 loss to Baxter, 42-21 setback against Belle Plaine and 30-18 loss against English Valleys/Tri-County. 

Collins-Maxwell scored three falls, one win by major decision and one win by decision against Baxter.  

Zach Haus pinned Baxter’s Kailee Conradi in 20 seconds at 106 pounds, Clayton Leslie took down Tanner Shanks in 1:53 at 145 and Marshall Day whipped Hope Good in 52 seconds at 152. Jacob Pierick earned a 15-2 major decision over the Bolts’ Cole Smith at 120 and Trevor Sliger defeated Curtis Gliem by a 12-5 score at 132.

Brody Sampson added a forfeit win at 182. 

The Spartans picked up two pins and one victory by decision against Belle Plaine. Leslie pinned Belle Plaine’s Jeremy Reineke in 2:56, Nate Dumbaugh stuck Conner Peterson in 5:03 at 138 and Sampson edged Chase Wickwire by a 10-8 score. 

Pierick tacked on a forfeit against Belle Plaine. 

Collins-Maxwell earned two falls and received a forfeit against English Valleys/Tri-County. Sampson pinned Dillon Kapple in 4:24, Day ousted Keegan Walker in 3:02 and Pierick received another forfeit.
