Spartans go 1-1 at ISC tourney: C-M sweeps Saydel in non-conference match

DUNKERTON - The Collins-Maxwell volleyball team split its two matches at the Iowa Star Conference tournament Saturday.

The Spartans took down Baxter in three sets to avenge two earlier losses to the Bolts. They were swept by Tripoli in their other match, putting their record at 8-13 on the season.

Collins-Maxwell dominated the first set against Baxter by a 21-13 score. The Spartans dropped a 21-19 battle in the second, but came back to win the rally game, 15-12.

Elise Robertson had 11 kills and five digs, Reagan Franzen six digs, four aces, three kills and one block and Kenzi Wierson nine assists and two digs against the Bolts. Brooke Christie finished with three kills and two digs and aces apiece, Sofie Wattonville eight digs and one ace, Josephine Ross three digs, Marissa Boege two kills and Isabelle Hill one kill.

Collins-Maxwell suffered 21-15 and 21-19 losses at the hands of Tripoli.

Christie had five kills, six digs and three aces in a losing effort against Tripoli. Franzen finished with three kills, eight digs and two blocks; Robertson six digs, three assists and two kills; Wierson six assists, four digs and two kills and Hill one kill and block apiece.

Ross tacked on eight digs, Wattonville two digs and Boege one block and assist apiece.

DES MOINES - Collins-Maxwell ruined Saydel’s senior night by sweeping the Eagles in a non-conference match Oct. 15.

The Spartans pulled off 25-20, 25-10 and 25-22 victories to earn their eighth victory of the season. They averaged 10.7 kills per set on 11.8-percent efficiency and also had six aces on 94.6-percent serving.

Kenzi Wierson had 23 assists and five kills, Reagan Franzen 10 kills and four blocks and Elise Robertson eight kills and four blocks. Brooke Christie chipped in four kills and one block, Izabelle Hill three kills and Marissa Boege two kills, one assist and one block.

Sofie Wattonville tacked on three aces and Robertson, Christie and Franzen one apice.
