Bombers sweep Perry for RRC win

HUXLEY - The Ballard volleyball team remained above .500 in the Raccoon River Conference with a decisive sweep of Perry Oct. 6.

The Bombers swept the Bluejays to improve to 5-3 in the conference and 8-12 overall. They were given a good fight in the first set, eeking out a 26-24 win, but then dominated the final two sets with 25-13 and 25-9 victories.

Ballard averaged 12 kills on 18.6-percent efficiency in the match. The Bombers had a dominant serving night, recording 19 aces.

Carley Wilson had 13 kills and five digs, Ava Ashworth six kills and five digs and Natalie Maher five kills for Ballard. Molly Houge picked up eight digs in the back row.

Kaylee Van Pelt turned in a terrific all-around match at sette with 14 assists, six kills, four digs and one block. Brynna Huen finished with 11 assists and five digs.

Wilson led Ballard’s dominant serving with seven aces and Huen added five. Houge recorded three aces, Ashworth two and Hailey Battani and Riley Askelsen one apiece.
