Bombers drop first two RRC matches

BONDURANT — The Ballard volleyball team had a tough time finding its footing in a Raccoon River Conference loss to Bondurant-Farrar Sept. 12.

The Bombers were swept in three sets to fall to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the Raccoon River Conference.

Ballard struggled early, losing 25-14 and 25-11 in the first two sets. The Bombers put up a good fight in the third set, but still came up short by a 25-18 score.

Ballard only had 13 kills against 15 errors in 66 attacks. The Bombers produced 19 digs and three blocks on defense and they tallied six aces on 34 of 43 serving.

Carley Wilson had seven kills, five digs and two aces and Natalie Maher four kills for the Bombers. Ava Ashworth chipped in one kill and two digs and Aviah Taylor one kill, block and dig apiece.

Brynna Huen handed out 12 assists and added three digs, one block and an ace. Molly Houge finished with seven digs, two assists and an ace, Cecilia Christensen recorded two aces and one block and Hailey Battani added one dig.

WINTERSET — Ballard had a tough time defensively at the net against Winterset in its Raccoon River Conference opener Sept. 12.

The Bombers went without a single block in falling to the Huskies in three straight sets. Winterset prevailed by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15.

Ballard recorded 16 kills and had 11 attack errors on offense. The Bombers totaled 23 digs as a team and went 40 of 47 serving with five aces.

Carley Wilson led Ballard with seven kills, six digs and an ace and Ava Ashworth came up with four kills, five digs and an ace. Cecilia Christensen put up two kills and aces apiece and Natalie Maher tacked on two kills and a dig.

Brynna Huen came up with 15 assists, four digs and one kill at setter and Molly Houge had five digs and one ace in the back row.

Hailey Battani chipped in two digs for the Bombers.
