Fricke, Houge place in top 10 for C-M at Colfax

COLFAX - The Collins-Maxwell cross country teams both finished in the top five at the Tigerhawk Invitational Sept. 7 at the Colfax Golf Course.

The Collins-Maxwell boys took fourth out of eight scored teams with 105 points. Woodward Academy easily won with 26 points, Saydel came in second with 60 and Baxter placed third with a score of 83.

Carter Fricke ran a ninth-place 5-kilometer time of 18 minutes, 59.81 seconds as the fastest individual runner for the Collins-Maxwell boys. Max Van Maanen came in 17th at 19:51.85 to give the Spartans two top-20 runners.

Noah Rhoades took 26th in in 20:51.47, Jacob Pierick finished 31st with a 21:28.62 showing and Carter Davis was the final scored Spartan runner with a 42nd-place time of 22:27.20. Addison Swaab came in 53rd at 23:53.14 and Austin Galbraith ended up 66th with a time of 25:21.65 to complete the varsity competition for Collins-Maxwell at the meet.

Baxter’s Ian Thomson easily won the boys’ individual title with a time of 17:36.87. The Bolts’ Logan Berg came in second after running a time of 18:05.02.

In the girls’ competition, Collins-Maxwell ended up fifth out of seven scored teams with 99 points. Baxter won with 46 points, Lynnville-Sully took second with 68, Clarke scored 81 points to end up third and Colfax-Mingo finished fourth with a score of 84.

Mikayla Houge gave the Collins-Maxwell girls one top-10 runner. Houge placed 10th with a 5-kilometer time of 23:44.29.

Olivia Pasquariello stepped up with a strong 13th-place time of 24:02.36 as the second runner for Collins-Maxwell. Shasta Moody was the team’s third top-20 runner with a 20th-place time of 25:19.53.

Morgan Day ran a 24th-place time of 26:02.93 and Tori Bienfang came in 32nd at 26:39.63 to complete the scoring for the Raider girls.

Baxter’s Brenna Thomson won the girls’ individual title in 20:58.34. Colfax-Mingo’s Abbey McConeghey was runner-up in 21:46.54.
