OGDEN - For the third year in a row, the Collins-Maxwell-Baxter baseball team upset Ogden in the postseason as the Raiders pulled off a 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs in the Class 2A district quarterfinals Saturday at Ogden.

CMB received outstanding pitching from Travis Lindemoen and Creighton Caple to get past the Bulldogs and advance to the regional semifinals for the third year in a row. Lindemoen kept Ogden off the board for six innings and Caple finished off the Bulldogs in the seventh to get the save.

Lindemoen ended up allowing two runs — one earned — in the seventh inning as the winning pitcher. He only gave up four hits and struck out eight with two walks.

Caple only gave up one hit and he struck out one batter in his scoreless inning of work.

The Raiders finished with six hits on offense. They scored twice in the fourth inning and added what turned out to be the winning run in the top of the fifth.

Lindemoen was 2-for-3 with a walk, steal and run; Cole Damman ended up 1-for-4 with an RBI and Adam Smith walked scored and drove in a run. Brady Ross walked twice and drove in a run, Ian Thomson was 1-for-2 with a walk, Caple and Bryce Bacon each singled once and Brady Kemp walked, stole a base and scored.

The victory put CMB at 5-20. Ogden ended its season with a 14-15 record.

Carter Church surrendered two earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and four walks in 3 ⅔ innings as the losing Bulldog pitcher. Wes Clausen singled and drove in a run and Kayden Kruse went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run to lead Ogden at the plate.

South Hamilton put up two runs in the first inning. The Hawks tacked on two more insurance scores in the fourth.

MADRID - A late spurt on offense wasn’t enough to overcome two bad innings for Collins-Maxwell-Baxter in an 11-5 non-conference loss at Madrid July 5.

The Raiders scored all five of their runs over the last two innings. But it couldn’t make up for a six-run Madrid second inning and the Tigers also pushed five runs across in the sixth to put the game away.
