The Ballard and North Polk boys’ soccer teams combined to have 10 players make all-conference in 2016.

The Bombers had seven players land on the all-Raccoon River Conference teams.

Van Maaren led Ballard in scoring on the season with 18 goals. Rietz totaled eight goals and Fleener helped the Bombers record two shutouts on the season.

Chance Mather also had a big year on defense for Ballard, making the all-RRC second team as a senior. Junior keeper John Fulk, junior forward Wade Stocksleger and sophomore Calvin Jones made all-RRC honorable mention for the Bombers.

Fulk made 77 saves at keeper during the season. Stocksleger netted 15 goals and Jones put up four goals.

Making the all-Heart of Iowa Conference team from North Polk this season were Alec Boletta, Carter Hartwig and Rhett Franzen. Boletta and Hartwig were first-team picks and Franzen landed on the second team for the Comets, who won four games on the season.
