CMB struggles at the plate in loss to PCM

PRAIRIE CITY - Great pitching wasn’t enough for Collins-Maxwell-Baxter in a 2-0 loss at Prairie City-Monroe June 22 in Prairie City.

Raider pitchers Brady Kemp and Brad Ritter combined to hold PCM to four hits. But CMB only tallied three hits, falling to 8-8 overall and 7-7 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.

PCM scored a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Mustangs added the game’s only other score in the bottom of the third.

Brady Kemp took the loss for CMB. Kemp gave up two runs - one earned - on three hits with three walks in five innings.

Brad Ritter threw the other inning for CMB. Ritter allowed one hit and he didn’t give up a run or walk.

On offense Ritter, Brady Stover and Creighton Caple each singled for the lone CMB hits. Kemp walked and stole a base.

Austin Brown went the distance to get the win for PCM. Brown finished with six strikeouts and just one walk.

Preston Van Wyk was 2-for-3 with a run and Noah Henkenius doubled, scored and drove in a run for PCM at the plate.
