Comets overpower CMB, 10-0

COLLINS - North Polk started strong on offense and never let Collins-Maxwell-Baxter get going in a 10-0 victory over the Raiders in a Heart of Iowa Conference baseball outing Tuesday at Collins.

North Polk plated seven runs over the first two innings and held CMB to just four hits, improving to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the HOIC. The Raiders were also hurt by four errors to fall to 4-5, both overall and in the conference.

Colby Cupp threw a great game to get the win for North Polk. He went all five innings and only allowed four hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Ben Rupe tripled, walked, scored twice and drove in a run; Luke Leopold was 1-for-2 with a walk, run and two RBI; Garrett Houge went 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI and Brett Haun finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI to lead North Polk on offense. Max Karpinske was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Cupp ended up 1-for-2 with a walk, Matt Cox walked twice and scored and Dawson Deitch chipped in one walk and run apiece.

Brady Kemp gave up four earned runs on six hits with one strikeout and no walks in two innings to take the loss for CMB. Brady Stover allowed one unearned run on no hits with five strikeouts and three walks in three innings of relief and Nate Bishop surrendered two runs on two hits with three walks in one inning.

Stover, Brady Ross, Tucker Maxwell and Aric Broderick all singled once for CMB on offense. Brad Ritter also drew a walk for the Raiders.
