Comets’ Mason ties for third at R-S Invite
STORY CITY — The North Polk boys’ golf team had five golfers shoot under 47, placing fourth out of seven teams at the Roland-Story Invitational May 3 at the River Bend Golf Course in Story City.
North Polk tallied a score of 173 over nine holes. Roland-Story won with a 154, Nevada took second with a 159 and South Hamilton came in third with a 168.
Trey Mason turned in the top individual score for North Polk. Mason shot a two-over par score of 38 to tie for third individually with Roland-Story’s Cole Matheason. Hampton-Dumont’s Derek Juhl was medalist with a one-under round of 35 and Roland-Story’s Will Halstead was medalist runner-up with a 37.
Nathan Parker shot a 44 and Brandon Annear delivered a 45 for North Polk. Josh Obernolte and Nick Dirksen tied for the final counted score for the Comets with identical rounds of 46.
Keaton Kirby also played for North Polk. He shot a 58.
