Ballard girls place sixth at RRC meet

PERRY — The Ballard girls’ golf team took sixth at the Raccoon River Conference meet Monday at the Perry Golf and Country Club.

The Bombers shot a 443 over 18 holes to beat Winterset by 32 strokes for sixth out of seven scored teams. Adel-Desoto-Minburn won with a 399 and Perry was a distant second with a 421.

Alle Echer and Abby Vincent each shot a 107 to pace Ballard individually. Both individuals put up a 52 on the front nine and a 55 down the backstretch.

Kaylee Klunder finished with a 114 and Madison Knutson carded a 115 to turn in the other counted scores for Ballard. Klunder produced a 58 on the front and 56 down the backstretch and Knutson tallied rounds of 56 and 59.

Lauren Smith shot a 120 and Afton Stark finished with a 136 as the other varsity competitors for Ballard at the meet.

ADM’s Tania Telford was the meet’s medalist with a 93 after shooting rounds of 49 and 44. The Tigers’ Lindsey Lange was runner-up with a 95 after carding a 51 on the front and 44 down the backstretch.

Carroll’s Sarah Sweeney came in third with an even 100.
