Comet boys finish fifth at home meet

POLK CITY — The North Polk boys’ golf team took fifth in a five-team home meet April 26 at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City.

The Comets shot a 202 over nine holes. Nevada won with a 151, Roland-Story took second with a 166, South Hamilton shot a 170 and Saydel came in fourth with a 181.

Keaton Kirby had the best score for North Polk as he shot a 49. Nathan Parker and Josh Obernolte each carded a 50 and Jack Trzeciak scored a 53 to produce the other counted Comet scores.

Nick Dirksen and J.J. Wohkittel also golfed varsity for North Polk. Dirksen shot a 57 and Wohkittel a 60.

Nevada’s Braydon Otto was the medalist with a 38. The Cubs’ Cole Gidel shot a 39 to earn medalist runner-up.

Final team scores: 1. Nevada 151, 2. Roland-Story 166, 3. South Hamilton 170, 4. Saydel 181, 5. North Polk 202.
