Local Author Series announced
Cambridge Memorial Library is happy to announce its 2019-20 Third Monday Local Authors Series. Six central Iowa authors will speak and read from their books at the library at 225 Water St. in Cambridge, at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of the month. Talks are free and open to the public.
The lineup of authors includes:
Sept. 16, Mike Chapman: To speak on his football biography of players Becker, Trice, Kinnock and Bright: “Triumph and Tragedy: The Inspiring Stories of Four Football Heroes.” He is author also of several historical novels and books on wrestling, including “Wrestling Tough.”
Oct. 21, Mary Swander: 2009-2011 Poet Laureate of the State of Iowa. She is author of many books, including the poetry book “Driving the Body Back,” memoirs “Out of this World” and “The Desert Pilgrim” and books about the land, “Lost Lake” and “Farmscape.”
Nov. 18, Susan Maupin Schmid: Author of children’s fantasy, including “If the Magic Fits,” “Ghost of a Chance” and “The Starlight Slippers.”
Feb. 17, Ed Fallon: Author of “Marcher Walker Pilgrim: A Memoir from the Great March for Climate Action.”
March 16, John Domini: Author of many books, including short story collections “Highway Trade,” “Talking Heads: 77” and “Movieola!;” literary fiction “Earthquake I.D.” and “The Color Inside a Melon;” and social history The Sea-God’s Herb.” He was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, for “Earthquake I.D.”
April 20, Debra Marquart: Author of many works, including poetry books “Everything’s a Verb,” “From Sweetness, and Small Buried Things,” rock ‘n’ roll short story collection “The Hunger Bone” and memoir “The Horizontal World.”
