The Original Pancake House named the winner of the Most Egg-cellent Omelet in Iowa Contest
Iowa Egg Council is excited to announce The Original Pancake House in Ankeny is the 2018 winner of the annual Iowa’s Most Egg-cellent Omelet contest!
The Original Pancake House is a franchise-owned restaurant, with the first location opening in Portland, Ore. The delicious food and the fact the chain operates as a family business made it a big hit; today they operate out of 130 locations.
Ankeny got its own location on Jan. 2, 2017, when Pat and Brenda Caligiuri and Chris and Jodi Jannes decided to bring this hearty, family food to a storefront of their own. At that time, they were an attorney, a concrete company owner and two school teachers, who talked about their shared dream of opening an Original Pancake House of their own. During conversation at a basketball game, they decided to make the dream a reality. Today, they bring Ankeny that same delicious food they first fell in love with, including the Most Egg-cellent Omelet in Iowa!
Having their omelet named most egg-cellent “is very EGG-citing, and I feel honored” Pat Caligiuri told us with a smile. When asked which omelet on the menu is most popular, Pat informed us that it is the Irish omelet, a crowd favorite, which is filled with corn beef hash and cheddar cheese. What’s the secret to that perfect omelet? It’s the unique method used to prepare The Original Pancake House omelets. Each omelet is made using 6 eggs and is started in a pan, shaped into what looks like a football, and then finished in the oven. The result of this handcrafting is a light, fluffy omelet with crispy edges.
You’ve got to check out these Most Egg-cellent Omelets, made by a family company who prides itself on making a meal that you can share with your family, too.
