Story County Treasurer Renee M. Twedt would like to remind Story County property owners that the second half of the fiscal year 2017–2018 property taxes are due on or before March 31. A penalty of 1 ½ percent attaches April 1.

Property tax statements were mailed out in August 2017. By law, all property owners are mailed a tax statement – even if they pay taxes through an escrow account. Property owners who pay taxes through escrow accounts or other third party arrangements can consider the tax statement FYI. Anyone with doubts about their property tax obligation should check with their bank or mortgage company, or call this office at 515-382-7330.

Mailed payments must be postmarked on or before March 31. Remember — dropping it in the mailbox does not guarantee a postmark. It is very important that the payment coupon from the property tax statement accompany all payments.

Paying on line only costs $.40 cents when you pay by E-check!! The cost is less than a postage stamp!!

We are pleased to offer payments by Discover Card, MasterCard and Visa or debit card in our office, as well as on line at . Additional fees will apply, but you know the fee before agreeing to the payment. Other websites with useful information for Story County property owners include and

For your convenience, we have added a drop-off box attached to the wall right as you come into our office. There also is the outdoor drop box outside the Administration Building at 900 Sixth St., Nevada. However, payments placed in this bpx after March 31 will require penalty.
