Rim repair firm to move into Collins fire building
A wheel repair business will move into the Collins fire station building after the fire department moves to its new facility this fall.
New Home Rim Right Wheel Repair and Powder Coating, a Des Moines-based company that repairs wheels for owners, rental fleets and dealerships, travels around the central Iowa area to perform mobile repairs.
Owner Dan Fitzpatrick said he and one other employee will run the company’s powder coating operations this fall, but he hopes to hire one or two more employees at the location as the company expands.
Collins began building a new fire station in April, with $200,000 coming from a local bank loan and $300,000 raised from local residents. Mayor Brett Comegys previously told the Times he didn’t want to pass a bond issue because he wanted residents to make contributions to the city of their own will.
Fitzpatrick said the company hopes to start operations sometime in December. The Collins Fire Department expects to move into their new station in October.
