Ames police investigating Thursday shooting; victim in stable condition

A man was accidentally shot Thursday afternoon and is in stable condition, according to a news release from the Ames Police Department.

Just before 4 p.m. Thursday, Ames police responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of South Oak Avenue. Officers found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his lower leg, the news release said. 

According to police, the man said another person accidentally shot him inside the apartment and left before police arrived. The man was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center, the news release said.
