People in Ames can easily hail a Yellow Cab now that the company has expanded to the Ames Municipal Airport.

Yellow Cab Co., which was founded in 1999 as Trans Iowa, scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the airport.

Randy Sackett, president of Yellow Cab Co., said in a news release the company has recognized the need to expand "and with Yellow Cab Co.'s growth, we are now able to provide consistent, reliable transportation."

Ames Municipal Airport held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for Yellow Cab Co., which has expanded to Ames.

The Ames fleet will include cars and minivans, he said. Yellow Cab has more than 100 vehicles in central Iowa and serves about 6,000 passengers per week.
