Iowa State Patrol: Des Moines man killed in two-car crash near Madrid
A Des Moines man was killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash near Madrid, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Highway 17 and NW 158th Avenue south of Madrid, according the Iowa State Patrol. David Turner, 65, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic westbound on NW 158th Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the State Patrol. Turner was struck by a person in a 2013 Chrysler van driving northbound, according to the State Patrol.
The driver of the other vehicle had minor injuries.
Fifty people have died in crashes on Iowa's roads this year, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation. By this time last year 54 Iowans had died in crashes, and 338 died on Iowa roads in 2020.
