One new death, 19 new COVID-19 cases reported in Story County from Thursday to Friday
An additional 19 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Story County from Thursday to Friday, the state's coronavirus website showed at 10 a.m. Friday. One new death was reported.
At that time, state officials reported 9,362 positive cases in Story County, up from Thursday’s total of 9,343.
To date, a total of 45 Story County residents have died as a result of COVID-19, according to Iowa's coronavirus website.
COVID-19 is the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus.
Of those who have tested positive for the virus in Story County, 8,744 individuals have recovered, according to the state. As of Friday, Story County's 14-day average positivity rate is 6%, up from 5% Thursday.
To date, a total of 52,320 Story County residents have been tested for the virus.
Across Iowa, an additional 562 positive cases and 15 deaths were reported Friday morning.
At 10 a.m. Friday, the state was reporting that there are 331,626 confirmed cases of coronavirus, an increase of 562 since 10 a.m. Thursday.
The state reported 5,336 total COVID-19 deaths, an increase of 15 since Thursday morning.
The total number of people tested is 1,534,387, according to the state. Of the people who have tested positive, 307,584 have recovered.
The Ames Tribune uses data from the Iowa Department of Public Health to report daily totals of Iowans and Story County residents tested for the coronavirus and those who have tested positive for the virus each day. Since the pandemic began in the spring, the state has made changes and corrections to how it reports that data and the data does not always agree with numbers reported from other sources.
