Another 34 COVID-19 cases reported in Story County
Another 34 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Story County, the state reported Tuesday.
As of Tuesday at noon, a total of 3,158 people had tested positive in the county — up 34 from Monday morning's total of 3,124.
There were no additional deaths reported Tuesday. Seventeen people with the illness have died in Story County, according to the state.
COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus.
To date, 28,015 individuals in Story County have been tested for the illness.
Iowa State University has reported that since Aug. 1, just over 1,000 people at the university — students, staff, faculty and graduate assistants — had tested positive for the illness during on-campus testing. That total does not include move-in testing.
Across the state, another 12 people with COVID-19 have died in Iowa and there have been an additional 508 confirmed cases, surpassing 75,000 positive tests since the pandemic arrived in Iowa, the state reported Tuesday.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, the state was reporting 1,233 COVID-19-related deaths, an increase of 12 deaths since the state's tally at 10 a.m. Monday, according to the state's Coronavirus.Iowa.gov website.
The state was reporting at 10 a.m. Tuesday that there are 75,275 confirmed cases of coronavirus, an increase of 508 since 10 a.m. Monday. According to the state's website, there were 161 confirmed cases Monday and has been one additional case Tuesday, as of 10 a.m.
Of the 75,275 people who have tested positive, 54,257 have recovered, according to the state. The total number of people tested is 707,186, including 1,792 on Monday.
The Ames Tribune uses data from the Iowa Department of Public Health to report daily totals of Iowans and Story County residents tested for the coronavirus and those who have tested positive for the virus each day. Since the pandemic began in spring, the state has made changes and corrections to how it reports that data and the data does not always agree with numbers reported from other sources.
