Here’s who’s running for city council, school board in Huxley and Ballard

The filing period for candidates wanting to run for city council and school board expired Thursday, with the races for the Nov. 5 ballot taking shape.

The filing period began Aug. 26. It’s the first time the school board and city council elections will be combined.

Here’s who’s running for city council and school board in Huxley and the Ballard school district.

City Council

Huxley residents will have three candidates running for mayor. The race will include incumbent Craig Henry, and newcomers Chris Gardner and Kevin Deaton. Four candidates filed for Huxley’s two open at-large city council seats. Candidates for those seats include current council members David Jensen and Tracey Roberts, along with newcomers Joe Schierbrock and Nathan Easter.

School Board

Three incumbents will seek re-election on the Ballard Community School Board. Board members returning to the ballot include current Director At-Large Brandee Gatchel, Director District 1 Kirk Peterson, and Director District 2 Steve Domino.
