TV personality teams up with Alzheimer’s Association for annual motorcycle ride

The Alzheimer’s Association has scheduled their seventh annual A Ride to Remember motorcycle event for Sunday, July 24, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Southridge Mall in Des Moines. This event raises funds to support the local programs, services and research efforts provided by the Alzheimer’s Association.

With the event in its seventh year, the goal is to welcome bikers from around the state to help raise funds to support Alzheimer’s care, support and research. “We are amazed at the support this entire state has given to this event. The event started with former Head Football Coach Paul Rhoads and grew to around 750 riders representing six states and 96 cities here in Iowa. The stories you hear are heart-wrenching, but those are what motivate us and others to keep fighting this disease,” says Kay Rader, development director for the Alzheimer’s Association.

A $35 per person registration fee includes the ride, an event T-shirt, and meet-and-greet with this year’s honorary chair, Jackie Schmillen. Participants are encouraged to preregister by visiting alz.org/greateriowa or by calling 515-440-2722 ext. 8206.

This event could not be possible without the support of the riders, as well as local event sponsors, including Boesen The Florist, Fenders Cycle, Hubbell Realty Company, Hy-Vee, Iowa Select Farms, and CW Iowa 23 – KCWI Local 5.
