Huxley Farmers Market having a successful season
The Huxley Farmers’ Market has been seeing some good attendance this summer, organizers say. The market takes place every Thursday this summer, from 4-7 p.m., at Railroad Park.
“We have live music performances from 5-7 p.m. during our farmers’ markets,” said Travis Bakken, Huxley’s director of Parks and Recreation. “It’s free and open to the public to come enjoy some time in the park. And if they find something they’d like to buy at the farmers’ market, that’s great.”
Currently, the Huxley Farmers’ Market has about a dozen vendors participating. Those 12 offer a nice variety of items: yeast breads, knitted and crocheted items, fresh eggs, plants, fresh flowers, fruit, chemical-free veggies, Pampered Chef items, goat cheese, honey, garden produce, baked goods, jellies and jams, clothing, jewelry and Norwegian specialties, kringla and lefse.
“As the summer progresses, we will have more and more fresh produce,” Bakken said.
Entertainment for the rest of the summer
Tonight, the band Four Mile Creek will perform. This homey, bluegrass band is sure to get your toes tapping.
On July 28, the Gustafsons, a local husband and wife duo will perform.
On Aug. 7, Huxley Farmers’ Market will celebrate back to school with a special night. Music will be provided by the Grace worship team and a free dinner will be provided.
On Aug. 25, The Trahanovsky-Brewer Jazz Combo will perform.
Bakken said the farmers’ market is still accepting vendors. For more information or to sign up, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 515-597-2515.
