Thumbprint Cottage will be Junkin’ in June

It’s almost time for Junkin’ in June. The Central Iowa Junk Jaunt has hosted the event twice a year – in June and in the fall.

Junkin’ in June has several businesses participating. They range from brick and mortar stores as well as barns and sheds filled with vintage, rustic treasures and cool junk.

This year’s Junkin’ in June will be held this weekend – Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Since 2011, the Junkin’ events bring shoppers from all over the state. The popularity of the jaunts is clear: The CIJJ has nearly 13,000 followers on its Facebook page.

Thumbprint Cottage in Cambridge, 60159 290th St., is among the 26 vendors participating.

Thumbprint Cottage is filled with unique vintage, romantic country home accessories. It also has a collection of shabby chic hand painted and finished items. Owner Connie Nelson takes homeless pieces, paints and wax finishes them, and marks them with her signature thumbprint.

Junkin’ in June will also include vendors in Nevada, Story City, Ames, Roland, Jewell, Gilbert and Boone. There is a map available at www.centraliowajunkjaunt.com.
