Ballard summer program benefits students

The 2016 Ballard Summer Program started June 6 and will run through July 28. The program, which is run by the Volunteer Center of Story County, focuses on eliminating summer learning slide and hunger.

The summer enrichment programs are in need of volunteers to partner with summer staff as reading partners and meal coordinators. The program runs Monday through Thursday mornings.

The volunteer center encourages volunteers to sign up for a week at a time so the enrolled students have some consistency and time to build a positive relationship. All volunteers need to have completed ninth grade and are subject to background checks.
