Small-Town Traditions

Down at the Maxwell City Park on Sunday evenings you will find groups of adults, young and old, playing softball, and groups of people watching. Even with obstacles like the heat, mosquitoes, sometimes standing flood water in the outfield or along the third base line… they still show up to play. This past Sunday was no different, just a bunch of local people out enjoying a hot summer day. It’s one of my favorite things in small town Maxwell, traditions that go on year after year. Like the movie “The Sandlot,” some of the players may change over the years, but the games go on.
