Readers of Story County Grant from SCCF

Kim Hanna, executive director of Raising Readers of Story County (RRSC), shows Jim Black, advisory board member of Story County Community Foundation (SCCF), some of the books and totes recently purchased with a grant from SCCF. The $6,000 grant was used to increase the capacity of families and communities in Story County to nurture early literacy development among children from birth to age eight. RRSC’s key partners in this effort include ISU Extension and School of Education, Ames Public Library and United Way of Story County. SCCF awarded 19 such grants last year to nonprofit agencies for projects to improve Story County communities.
