Favorite Outing/Event/Tour: We went to Adventureland in May to celebrate our successful cookie sales.

Favorite Fun Activity (Not Earned): Our favorite activity was planting marigolds and daisies in clay pots we had painted, and comparing the differences in plant growth and characteristics.

Favorite Community Service Project: The Daisy troop loved decorating socks for the residents at the Polk City Nursing Home and singing holiday carols to them as well!

Any Special Accomplishments Earned: All 13 girls earned all their Daisy petals and were successfully able to bridge into Brownies!

Quote from a Daisy about Why She Likes Girl Scouts: “The songs help us remember about what Girl Scouts is all about.”

Quote from a leader about What You’ve Enjoyed the Most This Year: “Having been a Girl Scout myself as a child, it has been meaningful to be on the other side as a leader.”

Troop 591, Brownie level

Leader: Misty Fosselman

Favorite Badge Earned and Activities Completed to Earn: Journey Badges, for “It’s Your Story, Tell it.” We worked through the activities in our Journey books, and played a detective game to help look for clues on how the story might end or how we can help people. They also did a wonderful job with their cookie program this year, and voted to use some of their earnings for the troop to go to Camp Sacajawea this summer for a Brownie Day Camp.

Favorite Outing/Event/Tour: At our last meeting of the year, we had a fun meeting, with a small bounce house, fire pit for hot dogs and s’mores and a bug nature walk.

Favorite Fun Activity (Not Earned): Play Doh Cookie Troop Bake-Off

Favorite Community Service Project: Holiday Caroling

Any Special Accomplishments Earned: This year, our troop voted to determine our troop crest. The crest is a unicorn, which stands for beauty and courage.

Quote from a Brownie about Why She Likes Girl Scouts: I like to see my friends and do lots and lots of crafts! I am a craft girl. –Grace Crippen

Quote from leader about What You’ve Enjoyed the Most This Year: Now that we’ve reached a Brownie level, it has been good to be more girl-led. The girls are full of ideas and opinions, and they enjoy things more when they can help plan it.

Brownie Troop 602

Leaders: Mary Luna-Duffy and Michelle Knoll

Favorite Badge Earned and Activities Completed to Earn: Good question…This year, hands down, the Letterboxer badge was their favorite earned badge. There is something about being given a clue, a code and a hidden mystery box that excited and challenged the troop. They also chose to share and lead this activity with a Daisy troop at the end of this year.

Favorite Outing/Event/Tour: Another good question…Most girls would say going cabin camping at Camp Juliette this year was their favorite outing. It’s hard to beat smores, campfire jokes, knife skills and omelets in a bag.

Favorite Fun Activity (Not Earned): The troop created floral arrangements for Mother’s Day with the owners at Floral Wedding at the Perfect Wedding, Lisa and Michelle. They gave a demonstration and explained how to arrange the flowers and care for them when they got home. The moms were so surprised and thrilled, and the Girl Scouts wore huge smiles the entire time.

Favorite Community Service Project: Without question, the troop’s favorite community service project was sending every North Polk Elementary student home with a book for Christmas. The girls loved fundraising with businesses and bake sales, counting and sorting donations, shopping for additional books at Scholastic Warehouse and surprising each classroom with a book for each child and two more for the classroom library!

Any Special Accomplishments Earned: Our troop completed two Girl Scout Brownie Journeys this year and one the year before, earning the Brownie Summit Award, which is the highest award a Girl Scout Brownie can earn.

Quote from a Brownie about Why She Likes Girl Scouts: “I’m going to be a Girl Scout for as long as I can!” “Me too.”

Quote from a leader about What You’ve Enjoyed the Most This Year: Our girls amaze us with their ideas, dedication and character. They have grown so much this year and made a huge difference in their communities. We are so proud of them!

I believe that their association with each other and with Girl Scouts will put them on the right path to their very bright futures.
