4-H Club News: Collins Clippers
The Collins Clipper 4-H Club had 17 members present at its June meeting on the 12th. President Alex Fisher called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. Jonathan Struthers was asked to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Abby Struthers read the secretary’s report from the April meeting, followed by the treasurer’s report from Jonathan Struthers. Old business consisted of the May car wash, where we netted $378.
New business was: 1) Planning a float for Collins Day. 2) Organizing the Petting Zoo on Collins Day. 3) Discussing the “Hillbilly Relay” game for Collins Day. 4) Identifying members to participate in the pork grilling competition at the Story County Fair. 5) Exploring whether we should support the fundraising for a new livestock scale for use in swine, goat and sheep projects at the fair. Jonathan Struthers moved, Jacob Struthers seconded, to support the fund in the amount of $500. Motion carried.
Sarah Tschantz then led the 4-H pledge. Presentations were given by Elizabeth Tschantz on “Making fudge,” Hannah Tschantz on ” Julius Caesar” and Andrew Tschantz on “Alfred the Great” ( yes, he was real, google him). We then adjourned and tried some fudge.
