Rasmusson elected district governor of state association

Justin Rasmusson, funeral director and owner of Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada and Maxwell, was installed as District 6 governor of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association (IFDA) during the 136th Annual IFDA Convention held May 17-19 in Altoona.

Rasmusson was born in Nevada and grew up on a farm outside of Zearing. He graduated in 2002 from Colo-Nesco High School. He graduated from the Mortuary Science Program at DMACC in 2006. He completed his internship at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines, and obtained his funeral director’s license in 2007. He started with Bacon Funeral Home in March 2010 and in January 2016, Justin purchased the Bacon Funeral Homes in Nevada and Maxwell.

Rasmusson was reelected by his peers to serve a three-year term in this capacity and was installed into office during the IFDA Presidential Banquet and Awards Ceremony on May 17. District governors must: act as a liaison between members in the district and the Association leadership, attend quarterly meetings of the board of governors to conduct Association business and determine policies, hold annual meetings within the district and provide required funeral director continuing education, and serve on standing Association committees. District 6 encompasses the counties of Boone, Story, Marshall, Dallas, Polk, Jasper, Poweshiek, Warren, Marion, Mahaska.
