Collins-Maxwell seniors celebrate graduation

Twenty-three graduates crossed the stage and received diplomas in Maxwell this past Sunday.

In her valedictorian speech, Toni Marie Spencer gave a message to her classmates about life being short — get over it. If your boyfriend breaks up with you, she said, “Get over it!” If you get a bad grade, “Get over it!” Life’s too short to worry about things like whether your butt looks too big in your jeans, she said, noting that she’s trying hard to figure that one out, especially in the day of “skinny jeans.”

But Spencer wanted her classmates to go on and enjoy life. She wanted them to know that life’s too short for them to sit in their mom’s basement playing video games.

Also speaking to the class were outstanding seniors, Emma Cox and Stephanie Twohey, the class salutatorian.
