New Story Medical provider specializes in women’s health and wellness services

Story Medical Clinic in Nevada is set to welcome a new provider to its team. Liz Cox, FNP-BC, will begin seeing patients on Monday, May 9. Cox, who is a board certified family practice nurse practitioner, will provide primary care services with an emphasis on women’s health and wellness. Prior to joining the team at Story Medical, Cox cared for patients at Marshalltown OB/GYN, P.C.

Cox will offer care for the whole family, with a special interest in services specific to women’s well-being and preventive health care. With a focus on providing information, education, screenings and medical care to women desiring a healthy lifestyle, these services include family planning support, diagnostic testing with ultrasound and mammography, and treatment for overactive bladder, osteoporosis, menopause and more.

“I look forward to working with the providers at Story Medical to continue to provide the best in care to those we serve,” Cox said. “I am impressed by the approach to care at Story Medical and am excited about serving the community and building my practice on the firm foundation that has been established.”

Cox has served in a variety of positions in health care for nearly three decades. In prior roles as a registered nurse, she has cared for patients in the office setting, in a multi-specialty clinic and in the hospital setting. Cox also has experience in the classroom, serving as a nursing instructor at Des Moines Area Community College and Grand View University.

“I love what I do, and I hope my patients can sense that in each interaction I have with them,” Cox said. “The relationship between provider and patient is sacred, and I don’t take for granted the choice my patients make when they come to me.”

Story Medical CEO Nathan Thompson said Cox’s addition strengthens an already well-respected practice at Story Medical’s Nevada clinic.

“We are excited to welcome Liz to Nevada,” Thompson said. “Her specialized skills enhance the level of care we currently provide, and I’m confident her personality and warm bedside manner will be appreciated by her patients.”
