From the SAHA Files…

This photo from our collection at the Slater Area Historical Association was taken by resident Rosella Christianson in 1987 as a project for the 1989 Slater Centennial. The small “Five and Dime” displays Halloween masks in its window. Next door is the office of Shelby Chader, longtime local attorney. Visit Heritage Hall Museum to view this photo and others like it. If photos like this interest you, you can volunteer to help identify and file SAHA’s large collection. SAHA also has a genealogy research station and files of family histories and obituaries dating back to before 1900. Heritage Hall Museum, 318 First Ave., is open from 10-2 on Thursdays, or by appointment. Call 515-480-9789 or 515-228-3293.
