Cambridge student to attend Boys State

The Cambridge American Legion Post 233 has selected Ian Fletcher to attend Boys State this summer. Fletcher is the son of Matt and Carol Fletcher from Huxley.

The American Legion Boys State is an educational program about government for high school students. Students participate in the operation of a local, county and state government. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs.

Boys State has been a program of the American Legion since 1935. Each year, an American Legion Post selects a high school junior to attend the program. This year’s program will be held June 12-17 at Camp Dodge in Johnston.

Fletcher is involved in cross country, baseball, track, student council and the National Honor Society. In his free time he enjoys fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors.
