KHOI-FM community radio, broadcast out of downtown Ames, is celebrating its third year on the air on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The celebration will include the guest appearance of former FCC Commissioner Nicholas Johnson. Named one of the most influential people in American history, Johnson will speak to honor the community station’s anniversary.

The lecture will be presented at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 516 Kellogg Ave.

The talk will be followed by a reception and party at Bar La Tosca, 400 Main St., in downtown Ames. The Latin Duo, Calle Sur will perform at this event.
