Story County Auditor’s Office employees recognized
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate recently congratulated Chris Andringa, Michelle Bellile, Julie Erickson and Bre Van Sickle from the Story County Auditor’s office for completing the State Election Administrators Training (SEAT) certification program. The course includes 40 hours of education and is aimed at providing election administrators with the knowledge and tools necessary to be compliant with state and federal election laws.
“Administering elections is one of the most important government functions in the State of Iowa,” Secretary Pate said. “The training of these professionals will ensure that Iowa’s elections remain among the best in the nation. Because we take the training so seriously, citizens can be assured that their vote is being counted correctly and protected.”
There were 58 graduates in the 2015 class. County auditors and elections staff from 42 different counties participated in the certification process this year.
SEAT is a collaborative agreement between the Iowa State Association of Counties, the Iowa Association of County Auditors and the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office, established in 2006. It is the official training program for elections officials in the state of Iowa.
