The Shipley alumni met at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada on June 14. Seventy people came together to celebrate the 98-year existence of the school, which closed in 1959.
Ed and Wanda Kamp, who bought the school a number of years ago, did a wonderful job of maintaining it. The school building is now for sale, but we will always appreciate what they accomplished.
The alumni honored the classes of 1944, 1954 and 1964. A special honor went to Esther Holland Wicks, a member of the class of 1931. She will be 101 in August.
President Gary Bates presided over the meeting, and Rod and Trisha Biensen provided the entertainment. A catered meal was enjoyed by all.
