POLK CITY – The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter boys’ golf team placed 10th at the Heart of Iowa Conference meet Monday at the Tournament Club of Iowa.
CMB struggled to keep pace with the top teams on one of the toughest courses in Iowa. The Raiders delivered an 18-hole score of 444.
South Hamilton won the tournament with a 310 and Gilbert placed a close second with a team score of 312. Greene County finished just ahead of CMB in ninth place with a team score of 440 and North Polk shot a 397 to take eighth.
Individually, CMB was led by Jake Hennick and Garrett Husske.
Hennick shot a 99 to place 39th overall. Husske came in 42nd with a 102.
Hennick carded a 49 on the front nine and a 50 on the back. Husske delivered nine-hole scores of 48 and 54 respectively.
Caleb Van Zante and Sean Deakins turned in the other counted scores for CMB. Van Zante finished with a 117 and Deakins carded a 126.
South Hamilton’s Braxton Risetter was the meet’s medalist as he shot a 71 to finish right at par. Prairie City-Monroe’s Devon Woody was medalist runner-up with a 73.

DES MOINES – Collins-Maxwell-Baxter took fourth out of five teams at the Saydel Invitational Friday at the Woodland Hills Golf Course in Des Moines.
CMB shot a 206 over nine holes to beat Colo-Nesco by one stroke for fourth place. North Polk won the team championship with a 182, Van Meter took second with a 187 and Saydel shot a 188.
Garrett Husske was the only Raider to shoot under 50 as he delivered a 46. Jake Hennick finished right at 50, Brevin Johnson shot a 53 and Sean Deakins carded a 57 to round out the scoring for CMB.
Saydel’s Rece Martin and Van Meter’s Grant Waller both shot a 42 as the top two individual performers at the meet. North Polk’s Berke Osborne and Grant Schiltz each carded a 44.
