WOODWARD - The Collins-Maxwell boys’ basketball team wrapped up the regular season with an 85-56 loss to a powerful Woodward-Granger team Feb. 13.


The Spartans hung around for a half, trailing 42-28. But Woodward-Granger went up by 24 after three quarters to put the game away.


Collins-Maxwell fell to 7-14 with the loss.


The Spartans had a solid shooting night from the field at 44-percent accuracy, but Woodward-Granger shot 58 percent. Woodward-Granger also held a 34-23 rebounding advantage and forced numerous Collins-Maxwell turnovers - finishing the night with 20 steals.


Ben Hofer had 16 points and five rebounds and Jace Huntrods made 4 of 5 3-pointers and finished with 13 points for Collins-Maxwell. Mason Markley added 10 points, Weston Kahler seven points and five assists, Kadin Bennett seven points, Luke Huntrods three points and Brett Livesay five rebounds.


Woodward-Granger improved to 19-2. Bryce Achenbach had 24 points, six assists and four steals and Keith Braunschweig 14 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Hawks.

NORTH ENGLISH - Collins-Maxwell couldn’t quite keep pace with English Valleys in the second half Feb. 11, falling by a 51-48 score.


The Spartans led 25-20 at the half. English Valleys pulled even after three quarters, 37-37, then was outscored 14-11 over the final eight minutes in falling to 7-13 on the season.


Collins-Maxwell shot 43 percent from the field, made 9 of 13 free throws and outrebounded English Valleys, 34-30. English Valleys shot 36 percent and made four 3-pointers and 9 of 16 free throws.


Brett Livesay had 12 points and six blocks, John Kasper 11 points and four rebounds, Daniel Klein eight points and three steals and Ben Hofer seven points and three boards. Kadin Bennett chipped in four points and five boards, Weston Kahler four points and seven rebounds and Mason Markley two points and six boards.


English Valleys improved to 8-12. Hayden Irmen finished with 22 points and three steals and Kaden Hall 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists for the Bears.

CONRAD - Collins-Maxwell ran out of steam in a comeback attempt against BCLUW in a 74-58 loss to the Comets Feb. 10.


The Spartans trailed 47-35 at the half. But they cut their deficit in half during the third quarter, trailing 55-49 going into the fourth quarter.


In the final period BCLUW regained the momentum, outscoring Collins-Maxwell by 10 to pull away.


The Spartans fell to 7-12. They had solid balance with three players scoring in double figures and they got to the line 29 times, but only shot 36 percent from the field and finished with just 17 rebounds.


Brett Livesay had 14 points, three steals and two assists for Collins-Maxwell in the loss. Kadin Bennett added 11 points, four rebounds and two assists, John Kasper 10 points, two assists and a steal and Daniel Klein eight points.


Weston Kahler chipped in six points, Mason Markley five points, three rebounds and a steal and Ben Hofer four points, five rebounds and a steal.
