MAXWELL - A monster game from Reagan Franzen wasn’t enough to get the Collins-Maxwell girls’ basketball team past Woodward-Granger Friday in a 48-38 loss to open the season.

The Spartans entered the game without injured point guard Mikayla Houge and the twin tandem of Emma and Ella Kahler were also not available. That hurt their overall versatility and balance and Franzen couldn’t quite make up the difference despite a fantastic performance.

Franzen exploded for a career-high 32 points after making 7 of 13 field goals, including three 3-pointers, and an impressive 15 of 17 free throws. She was also amazing on the glass, pulling down 18 rebounds, and added two steals defensively.

No one else got anything going. Outside of Franzen Collins-Maxwell was just 2 of 19 from the field.

Brooke Christie had three points and two assists, Alexis Houge two points and eight rebounds and Kenzi Wierson five rebounds, two assists and steals apiece and one point. Trinity Stover added three steals and two rebounds.
