ALLEMAN - The Collins-Maxwell girls’ soccer team came up short in both of its games at the North Polk Invitational Saturday in Alleman.


The Spartans lost a 4-3 battle with Pella Christian and fell to a North Polk team rated No. 7 in Class 1A by a 6-0 score. The two setbacks put Collins-Maxwell at 6-5 on the season.


Tori Bienfang, Brooke Christie and Caitlyn Bruntz each scored a goal for Collins-Maxwell in the loss to Pella Christian. The Spartans ended up with nine shots and keeper Elise Robertson made 10 saves in a losing effort.


Tessa Brouwer, Lindsay Breon, Sydney Hooyer and Annika Terpstra each scored once for Pella Christian.


Collins-Maxwell was held to a single shot in the loss to North Polk. Izabell Voelker had the Spartan shot and Robertson ended up with 12 saves.


Landry McCoid scored three goals for North Polk. Katryn Haltermann, Autumn Tiedens and Katie Berglund each netted one goal for the Comets.


MAXWELL - Collins-Maxwell overpowered Boone offensively in a 9-1 victory over the Toreadors May 6 at Maxwell.


Caitlyn Bruntz went off for four goals and she also dished out an assist to lead the Spartan charge. Tori Bienfang tacked on two goals and one assist and freshman Izabell Voelker also found the net twice.


Cassy Berg netted one goal and Brooke Christie and Hannah Clair each dished out an assist. The victory put Collins-Maxwell at 6-3 on the season.
