STORY CITY - The Ballard boys’ track team produced six top-five performances at the Norsemen Relays April 25 in Story City.


Blaine Hermann, Ryan Ledet, Chris Lee and Nic Edwards each placed in the top five individually and the Bombers also had two relays turn in top-five teams. Ballard scored 38 points to place ninth in the team standings.


Hermann took fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of :11.76. Nevada’s Joven Nelson won in :11.26.


Hermann also came in sixth in the 200 with a :24.47 showing.


Ledet finished fourth and Lee sixth in the 1,600 with respective times of 4:5.12 and 5:11.09. South Hamilton’s Zakee Newman won the race in 4:51.26.


Lee turned in a fourth-place time of 11:17.60 in the 3,200 and Bomber teammate Connor Hill was eighth in 11:47.40. Roland-Story’s Nick Wakefield claimed gold in the event with a time of 10:08.91.


Edwards placed fourth in the 110 high hurdles after crossing the finish line in :16.84. Aplington-Parkersburg’s Gannon Oberhauser was the victor in the race with a :16.01 effort.


The Bomber distance medley team of Hermann, Cody Wolfe, Jonah Olson and Jim Chism placed fourth in 4:02.25. Roland-Story ran a winning time of 3:50.85.


Ryan Ledet, Erik Ledet, Chism and Jace Beall finished fifth in the 4 X 800 with a time of 9:09.69. Roland-Story easily won the relay in 8:33.04.


Ballard’s sprint medley team of Hermann, Cael Estrem, Wolfe and Olson ran a 1:45.60 to place seventh. Estrem, Blake Stover, Gavin Soash and Sebastian Hammer took eighth in the 4 X 200 with a 1:49.17 showing.


Roland-Story cruised to the team championship with 165 points. Nevada scored 109 points to place second.

ALLEMAN - Ballard placed in 14 events at the Comet Relays boys’ track meet April 23 in Alleman.


The Bombers earned one bronze medal, scoring 46 points to take seventh as a team. Webster City took the team title with 161 points and North Polk was second with a score of 155.


Ballard’s distance medley team of Blaine Hermann, Cody Wolfe, Jonah Olsan and Jim Chism placed third in three minutes, 54.73 seconds. East Marshall won the event in 3:48.48 and Kuemper Catholic was second in 3:53.25.


Ryan Ledet, Erik Ledet, Jace Beall and Olson finished fourth in the 4 X 800 with a time of 9:11.04. Webster City was victorious in 8:30.24.


The Bomber 4 X 100 team of Colby Kadner, Cael Estrem, Gavin Soash and Braiden Marlatt took sixth in :52.50. Hermann, Estrem, Wolfe and Nic Edwards also finished sixth in 1:46.85.


Estrem, Blake Stover, Soash and Sebastian Hammer finished seventh in the 4 X 200 with a 1:48.57 showing. Beall, Chism, Hammer and Edwards added another seventh-place performance in the 4 X 400 with a time of 4:13.20.


Individually, Ashton Hermann came in fifth in both the open 400 and the high jump and seventh in the 400 hurdles. He ran a :56.48 in the 400, jumped five feet, six inches in the high jump and completed the 400 hurdles in 1:02.96.


Blaine Hermann finished sixth in the 200 and seventh in the 100 with respective times of :24.11 and :11.87.


Chris Lee and Connor Hill placed fifth and seventh in the 3,200 with respective times of 11:35.27 and 11:48.02. Erik Ledet took sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:12.50 and Lee was eighth in the 1,600 with a 5:07.22 showing.


Edwards came in eighth in the 110 high hurdles after running an :18.62.
