HUXLEY - The Ballard girls’ soccer team gave No. 10 (Class 1A) Panorama a good fight before falling by a 1-0 score April 23 at Rich Strouse Field in Huxley.


The Bombers got off eight shots on goal, but couldn’t get one into the net, suffering their third loss to a top 10 team this season. Ballard fell to 2-4-1 with the setback.


Brooke Loewe had four shots on goal and Sydney Halverson, Emily Johnson, Brooke Smith and Olivia Dee one apiece for Ballard. Sierra Knight made 13 saves in a strong outing at keeper for the Bombers.


Panorama improved to 5-0. Ella Waddle scored the Panther goal off an assist from Laci Rishel.


HUXLEY - Ballard couldn’t do enough to slow Adel-Desoto-Minburn down in a 4-2 loss to the No. 10 team in Class 2A April 22 at Rich Strouse Field in Huxley.


ADM got off 15 shots on goal and had three different players score to improve to 6-1 on the season. Ballard fell to 2-3-1 after being held to four shots on goal.


Brooke Loewe fired off three of Ballard’s shots on goal and Meg Rietz accounted for the other one. Loewe and Rietz each accounted for one goal, and Sydney Halverson and Morgan Catron had one assist apiece.


Sierra Knight gave a gutsy performance at keeper for the Bombers, ending the game with 14 saves.


Ashlyn Watt scored twice and Delaney Barton had one goal and two assists for ADM. Julia Case also scored a goal for the Tigers.
