GILBERT — The Ballard volleyball team started strong, but couldn’t keep up the pace against Gilbert in the Class 4A regional quarterfinals Oct. 17 at Gilbert.

The Bombers fell to the Tigers in three sets. They put up a good fight in the first set before falling, 25-20, but nothing went their way over the next two, suffering 25-12 and 25-4 setbacks.

Ballard finished the match with 31 digs, eight kills and three aces. Anna Krejcarova slammed home three kills, Ava Ashworth hammered home two and Carley Wilson contributed two, along with five digs and two aces in the loss.

Molly Houge tallied 12 digs and Sarah Stolte added eight on defense for Ballard. Hannah Elliott dished out eight assists.

The Bombers finished the season with a 5-23 record.
