CONRAD - The Collins-Maxwell volleyball team never hit its stride at the BCLUW Invitational Saturday.

The Spartans went 0-4 during the tournament to fall to 12-10 on the season. Collins-Maxwell suffered 21-13 and 21-14 losses to BCLUW, 21-16 and 21-19 setbacks to West Marshall, 25-11 and 26-24, defeats to Gladbrook-Reinbeck and two 21-14 losses to Baxter.

Reagan Franzen had 19 digs, 17 assists, four aces, three kills and three blocks and Hannah Caple put up 50 digs and one kill for Collins-Maxwell during the tournament. Gracie Cheville finished with 13 kills and 18 digs, Elise Robertson 12 digs, two kills and three blocks and Trinity Stover 12 digs, three blocks and one ace.

Jillian Holst tacked on six assists, four digs, three aces and two blocks and Brooke Christie 14 digs. Josie Wierson finished with 12 kills, five blocks, two digs and two assists.

Angela Calkins tacked on two digs and an assist and Jaden Camp three digs.

BAXTER - Collins-Maxwell had a tough time in serve receive against Baxter in an Iowa Star Conference loss to the Bolts Oct. 2 at Baxter.

The Spartans were swept by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-11, dropping to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in the Iowa Star Conference South Division. Collins-Maxwell was hurt by 14 ace serves by Baxter and the Spartans’ attack was also inefficient, totaling 22 kills and 16 errors.

Collins-Maxwell did a nice job defensively at the net with eight blocks. The Spartans also produced 50 digs.

Gracie Cheville delivered 17 digs and 10 kills; Josie Wierson four kills, four blocks and two digs and Hannah Caple 16 digs for Collins-Maxwell. Elise Robertson had 12 digs, five assists and one kill; Reagan Franzen nine assists, three kills, three digs and two blocks; Trinity Stover two kills, one block and one ace and Brailyn Tankersley two kills and a block.

Amber Weltha had 13 kills and two blocks, Kaitlyn Headlee 26 assists and seven digs and Hallee Rainsbarger seven kills and digs apiece for Baxter. The Bolts improved to 9-9 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
