HUXLEY - The Ballard girls’ soccer team pulled off a 1-0 victory over Prairie City-Monroe in a defensive battle at Rich Strouse Field Monday.

Bomber keeper Sierra Knight made six saves and received great support from Ballard’s defensive back four, helping the Bombers go to 6-4 on the season. It was the Bombers’ third shutout win of the season.

Sydney Halverson accounted for the game’s only score with an unassisted goal. Halverson had five shots on goal and Alexis Colman, Karlee Emerson, Taryn Hutson and Cassie Smith two apiece.

Avery Anderson and Delaney McCormick each chipped in one shot on goal for the Bombers.

TAMA - Ballard easily took care of South Tama on the road Saturday, whipping the Trojans by a 6-1 score in Tama.

The Bombers got off 13 shots and keeper Sierra Knight only needed to make two saves. Cassie Smith, Sydney Halverson and Avery Anderson all had a big game offensively to help Ballard improve to 5-4 on the season.

Smith picked up a hat-trick with three goals. Halverson added two scores and Anderson finished with one goal and assist apiece.

PERRY - Ballard came up just short against Perry May 1 as the Bombers suffered a 3-2 setback in an evenly played game at Perry.

Ballard had 11 shots and Perry ended up with 12 in the contest. Bomber keeper Sierra Knight made nine saves in a losing effort.

Hailey Cole had one goal and assist apiece for Ballard. Sydney Halverson also scored a goal and Cassie Smith dished out an assist.
