July 10, 1935–May 21, 2014

On Wednesday, May 21, 2014, Mr. Virgil Frank Roznos lost his battle with pancreatic and liver cancer at his home in Garden Grove, CA. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen, their four sons, Terry, Rick, Mark, and Jim, seven grandchildren, Frank, Richard, Emma, Nicole, Dana, Sara, and Nathan, and two brothers, Harlan and Don. Virgil was preceded in death by his brother Marvin.

Virg grew up on a farm in Slater, Iowa, the son of Frank Roznos and Mina (Alleman) Roznos, with his three brothers. The very week after he graduated from Iowa State University, he was married to Karen in Boone, Iowa, and headed west to California to pursue his career as an aeronautical engineer. Their early years together took them first to San Diego, then back to the Midwest, to Nebraska to work in ICBM missile silos, then back west again in 1962 to Garden Grove, CA, where they found the home they live in today and Our Redeemer, their church of more than 50 years. He had a long career at Rockwell International in Downey, CA, where he enjoyed his work and was very proud to have been a part of the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. In 1994 he retired and devoted his time to traveling the world with Karen and spending time with his grandchildren, his sons, and loving daughters-in-law.

He was a great father and terrific grandpa, who always demonstrated great character, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to family, to friends, to church, and to his country. His memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 31, at 11:00, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Garden Grove, CA.
