Gertrude Ethel Meinsen, age 96, of West Burlington, died at home Thursday, October 25, 2018.
She was the daughter of Arnold and Gertrude Johnson. She was a homemaker, seamstress and wonderful, much loved mother.
She loved the time spent with her family, sewing, card games, picnics, traveling and dancing with her husband Bob, who preceded her in death in 1985.
She loved to go for a car ride past the neighborhood where she grew up on Sweeny Street and out through the park and down by the river.
Gertrude is survived by her two sons; James (Susan) Walsh and Philip Walsh; daughter Mary Ann (Pat) Ricks; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Meinsen, two sons, Michael (Grace) Walsh and Robert Walsh; two sisters, Patsy Delabre and Margaret Bergquist and one brother Karl Johnson.
The funeral service for Mrs, Meinsen will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Paul Walker will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Helen Rossi House at the University of Iowa.
